One of the things that sold me was the box art.
So I opened the box to find 8 sprues in all with the instructions and some stickers I will never use. :P As usual assembly went smoothly. Bandai has a good reputation for engineering their model kits very well.
I started off with the torso and the rear thruster pack. Since this is a GM, there is only one hole to fit a single beam saber. I find this odd because the kit comes with two beam sabers but oh well.
Then I came across the head, cutting the transparent "camera" got tricky, You really have to use a very sharp knife when you cut it out of the sprue because you cant file it. I think I damaged mine a wee bit so I may have to buff out the scratches.
"The hell are you looking at!?"
The arms went together without incident but I am going to have to have to fill the seams on the shoulder armor. Masking the tiny red vents will be tricky when the time comes to paint it.
The legs were no trouble during construction, although they will require some seam filling later. One of my favorite features on this model is how the foot base can pivot from the ankle, this gives the model an even wider variety of articulation. I wish Bandai could go back and do more of this on their older Master Grade kits.
Here are some photos of the leg articulation, notice how the foot base can pivot on the second picture:
Another one of my favorite features is the generous selection of hands, more HGUC kits need to come with multiple hands like this.
If there is anything to gripe about, I wish the kit came with the bazooka and a GM sub-machine gun. In addition to that, the shield doesn't like to stay on very well. The model is also missing some panel lines on the chest but since its a HGUC kit its to be expected.
The kit came together really well and I am very happy with its articulation. A wider weapons load out would be nice. Since this is a "GM Custom", this is supposed to be a high performance machine that is attuned to the pilot's liking. That is why I strongly suggest if you buy this kit you embellish the hell out of it with custom graphics and decals and see about painting it different colors. It is a blank canvas just for you! Use your imagination! ;) I know I will, I will be doing more project blogs for this model, please keep an eye out for them!
